The Philadelphia Center was developed in the spring of 1990 as concerned citizens were responding to the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Shreveport/Bossier area. Over the past 30 years, The Philadelphia Center has become the HIV/AIDS resource center for Region 7 which serves the parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Webster, Claiborne, Bienville, Red River, DeSoto, Sabine, and Natchitoches.
Client Services links people living with HIV/AIDS to supportive services such as case management, transportation, food vouchers, housing/utility assistance, support groups, and substance and mental health counseling.
Mercy Center is a 24-hour supportive housing program for previously homeless people living with HIV/AIDS. Provides a permanent, safe, and nurturing housing which PLWHA can live as productive and active lives as possible.
No cost, confidential HIV, hepatitis C, and syphilis testing to anyone in the community. Results are available in 20 minutes. Testing is conducted Monday through Thursday from 9am to 4pm.
GBT Wellness Center provides the full panel of STI testing and treatment offered every Monday from 10am to 4pm and the 2nd and 4th Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. Services are for gay and bisexual men and transgender individuals.
Taken daily, PrEP reduces the risk of HIV transmission from sex by about 99% and 74% for people who inject drugs. PrEP Clinic is every Tuesday from 10am to 2pm and every 3rd Thursday from 4pm to 8pm. Please call for an appointment.
Comprehensive harm reduction services that provides access to sterile syringes and other injection equipment, safe disposal of syringes, HIV and Hepatitis C testing and linkage to care. SSP operates every Friday from 10am to 4pm.
